$170/h

United States

Role overview

About the Role

Mercor is hiring practicing Inpatient Hospitalists (MD) on behalf of a healthcare AI partner building advanced clinical documentation and decision-support tools. In this role you will apply your active inpatient expertise to review, annotate, and evaluate hospital clinical documentation, directly shaping the accuracy, safety, and clinical usefulness of medical AI systems.

This role is designed for physicians with a current inpatient practice who write and read hospital documentation as part of their regular work.

This is a multilingual cohort. In addition to English, you must be able to speak, listen, and write in at least one other language at an advanced (C1) level or above.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Documentation Review

- Review inpatient documentation — H&Ps, daily progress notes, and discharge summaries — for accuracy, completeness, and clinical soundness

- Evaluate AI-generated inpatient notes and summaries against what a practicing hospitalist would actually document

Annotation & Structured Feedback

- Annotate inpatient encounter data against detailed guidelines

- Flag omissions, hallucinations, clinical inaccuracies, and documentation gaps in AI-generated output

- Provide structured, written feedback that engineering and product teams can act on

Knowledge Contribution

- Contribute expert input on annotation guidelines, documentation standards, and edge-case definitions

- Raise clarifying questions where guidance is ambiguous and help refine the guidelines

Required Qualifications

- MD — hospitalist or internal medicine — with 2+ years post-residency and a current inpatient practice

- US-based

- Hands-on experience writing and reading at least one of the following: H&Ps, progress notes, discharge summaries

- In addition to English, advanced (C1 or above) proficiency — speaking, listening, and writing — in at least one of the following languages:

- Spanish · Chinese (Mandarin) · Chinese (Cantonese) · Tagalog · Russian · Haitian Creole

- Korean · Arabic · Portuguese · Polish · Japanese

- Turkish · Italian · Ukrainian · Romanian · Finnish · French · Danish · Catalan · Hungarian · Czech · German · Bulgarian · Indonesian · Dutch

- Minimum availability of 10 hours/week

Preferred Qualifications

- 5+ years of experience post-residency

- Familiarity with Epic

- Prior AI/ML annotation or model evaluation work experience, with strong performance reviews

- Experience documenting patient care in a language other than English

Work Arrangement

- Remote, part-time — minimum 10 hours/week

- Flexible scheduling, designed around an active clinical practice

How big is the remote / hybrid opportunity?

Remote work is already huge — but the bigger story may be the hundreds of millions of jobs that could still move beyond geography.

Global remote and hybrid work opportunity infographic

Remote work already connects millions of people with companies they would never have been able to work for a decade ago. But compared with the size of the global labour market, it may still be early.

The interesting number is not only how many people work remotely today — it is how many roles could plausibly become remote or hybrid next.

The chart above starts with roughly 3.3 billion people employed worldwide. Around 300 million jobs are already remote or hybrid, while an additional pool of roughly 250 million roles could potentially move in that direction as technology, workflows and company culture continue to change.

Skills are becoming more portable

This matters because more work can increasingly be matched to expertise rather than location. AI training and evaluation are a good example: companies need lawyers, engineers, designers, editors, researchers, finance professionals and many other specialists to help improve AI systems.

For workers, that creates access to projects outside their local market. For companies, it expands the talent pool from one city or country to the world.
